Autumn in Squamish

We have had an amazing summer in Squamish.  Plenty of sunshine for enjoying all the outdoor activities you can imagine!  As we turn to autumn, I feel so lucky to live here, in our West Coast mountain community.  Fresh snow on the peaks of Garibaldi and Alpha mountains get me excited for winter!  The fall goes quickly as we look forward to not only coloured leaves (OK...so not quite as colourful as other parts of Canada, but the hillsides look lovely as the green becomes yellow and orange), but the return of the salmon (coho are already "running" in the Squamish River, which attracts the seals, who seem to be quite photogenic).  There are a lot of bears this year, so care in the woods is recommended.  However, don't let them keep you out!  The earthy autumn air smells so good!  And then, in late November, the Bald Eagles will arrive, since they like their sushi salmon buffet to be quite ripe!

Autumn is a lovely season here at Meadowbrook.  Still lots of good hiking, biking, kite boarding, golfing, sailing, fishing, and more.  Then come "home" to warm up by a cozy fire with a cup of coffee, tea or hot cocoa before prepping dinner in our well equipped kitchen, or availing yourself of one of our local restaurants.

Don't you wish you could share this with me?

We are open and accepting reservations!

I am very excited to tell you that we are now accepting reservations!  Meadowbrook is no longer serving breakfast, but has provided a high quality kitchen with all the necessary appliances and utensils for you to serve yourself, not only breakfast but any meal you choose!  The kitchen is yours to enjoy!  Having a lazy morning?  Bean Brackendale (Bean Around the World), one of our area's most popular coffee shops, is a short walk away.  We are also walking distance to The Nest, The Watershed Grill and The Crabapple if you don't feel like prepping lunch or dinner.  And you can bring home your "doggie bags" (we call them "Daddy bags" in our house) to leave in the fridge for snacking later.

Our new prices reflect the quality of suite we are offering.  One bedroom is $240 per night, both bedrooms $280, plus 5% tax.  There is a 3 night minimum.  Weekly tariff is $1500, monthly $4,500.00.  For longer term stay (2-6 months) we are willing to negotiate.

Photos and full room descriptions shall soon follow this announcement.  In the meantime, I hope you will consider Meadowbrook Suite for your Squamish vacation, winter or summer, spring or fall.  There is lots to do in any season.  Or maybe you just want to relax and enjoy our magnificent mountain scenery and the solitude of our garden.

Any way you like it....don't you want to share this with me?

Opening soon!

The anticipation mounts as we draw closer to the completion of our renovations.  The crew promised that they would pack up their tools and be out of here by the end of April and it looks like they will deliver!  That means, for me, that I must get out the cleaning supplies and have everything in tip-top shape before you arrive!

I am now taking bookings for our fully furnished two bedroom, two bathroom, three fireplace luxury suite with high-end kitchen including quality appliances.  Tariff per night is $240 for two people (using 1 bedroom), $280 for both bedrooms, plus 5% tax.  This includes free off street parking, free wifi (computer cables also provided formore security), access to our laundry room, a hot tub in the garden and the pleasure of our gardens.  For summer months there is also a barbecue and a picnic table.

Currently, at the end of April, we still have snow in the mountains, but the garden is lush and profuse with all kinds of spring flowers and trees just coming into full leaf.  The air smells sweet with natural perfume.  Migrating birds arrived several weeks ago, so there is a flurry of feathery activity.

I will be uploading photos as soon as possible...hopefully in a couple of weeks.

I know you'd like to share this with me!  I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Getting Closer to Opening!

The men have been working diligently on our project.  But, as always, there is so much more to a reno than the average person might think.  Once again, almost every room in our house has been effected, even if it means dusting upstairs (as well as up the stairs) at the end of every day!

But we are seeing results.  Wilf and I have been painting.  The new floors are in.  Apparently the kitchen cupboards are to be delivered today with installation completed by the end of this week!  Appliances will be installed in early April.

Now comes the fun part.  We'll need a couch for you to relax on, maybe watch some TV on the new screen.  Better call the "blind" lady soon so you'll be able to block out any glare.  We were lucky to catch some post Christmas sales for kitchen supplies, but there are still several things we need.

Our new model is a luxury suite for your comfort while you enjoy all that Sea to Sky has to offer.  We are now booking for summer 2016!  Log into our website or phone me at 1-604-815-3022.  I know you'll want to share this with me!

Coming soon! Meadowbrook Lodge

So...here we are, in the thick of it!  As the winter days become longer and warmer we look forward to many changes.  Our beautiful Mountain Mystic suite no longer exists.  The brand new full size, full service kitchen has been mapped out.  The place was buzzing this past week with electricians, plumbers and gas pipefitters, carpenters and drywallers!  The ceilings have had trenches carved out of the drywall to accommodate wires and pipes.  New lighting has been wired for our fixtures.  Wilf and I have purchased all new kitchen appliances and will begin to look at furniture in the next week or so.

Our new place will have all the comforts of home for our guests.  The new model will be a two bedroom/two bathroom suite.  Meadowside stays the same.  The only change to Creekside will be the change of beds from queen to two extra long twins that can be made into a king.  Our suite will sleep 4 very comfortably with the possibility of adding 2 more on either a bed couch or two fold out mattresses......we have yet to decide.

We hope you will enjoy the changes as much as we do.  We will welcome you the same as always (3 night limit from now on).  The breakfasts were always a fun way to get to know our guests, butyou will now have the option to have breakfast whenever you like without fitting into my schedule, and have lunch and dinner in, if you choose.

As the project progresses, I'll keep you up to date.  Hoping to open by the end of April.

Renovations are always messy.  This time I'll bet that you "don't want to share this with me!"

I am lucky to have several "sacred places" close to home.  Not difficult when you live in one of the most beautiful places on earth!

Swamp Lantern

The Swamp Lantern (a preferable name to Skunk Cabbage) has emerged from the soggy banks of Dryden Creek, which runs through our garden
